Relax and Restore

"Genuine healing can only occur when the parasympathetic nervous system is activated," states Dr. Sarah Cavrak.

We're all familiar with the term "fight or flight"- it's when our sympathetic nervous system is on high alert, pumping adrenaline into our blood stream, readying us to take action.

But it's when we activate our parasympathetic nervous system that we can relax, and restore ourselves.

Dr. Sarah Cavrak is a cognitive scientist, yoga and meditation educator, Reiki Master and Earth advocate and she has shared an easy sequence of yoga poses to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, allowing our minds and bodies to calm.

"...the beautiful truth is that our practices are always here for us no matter what is occurring for us personally or for the world, at large. Whatever your preferred yoga props, they are but an arms’ reach away. Present, and reminding us that anchoring, being grounded, and freedom are available and waiting. We simply have to arrive to them."

Indoors, or outside, when we take a moment to connect with our breath, and move our bodies, we are giving ourselves the time and space to heal.
